CLA has an immediate need for an experienced bilingual intake screener for a public interest organization located in Columbia, SC. The intake screener prescreens applicants for eligibility, refers applicants to non-legal available resources, translates, and performs other administrative work and assignments under the supervision and guidance of the managing attorney.

Sample Job Responsibilities:

  • Help applicants determine eligibility for public interest firm’s assistance
  • Familiarity with available resources (after training) and able to point callers in the correct direction
  • Daily and constant interaction with clients and potential clients of the organization
  • Translations as necessary
  • Other administrative work as necessary
  • Demonstrate empathy with clients from all backgrounds

Minimum and Additional Qualifications:

  • A high school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent
  • Prefer an associate Degree or certificate from a paralegal program
  • A minimum of 1-2 years of experience working in a call center or customer service environment
  • Experience with data entry and word-processing
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office 2016 and Microsoft Office 365
  • Must have excellent oral, written, and presentation communication skills
  • Able to work in a fast-paced position
  • High attention to detail and level of accuracy
  • Fully proficient in spoken and written English & Spanish
