Legal Accounting Assistant – Sports & Entertainment Law Firm (Charlotte, NC)

A prominent Charlotte-based sports and entertainment law firm, specializing in transactional law, is seeking a dedicated and experienced Legal Accounting Assistant to support its financial operations. This position is an assistant role and a great opportunity to learn the ropes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Client Billing & Invoicing: Prepare and process accurate and timely client invoices, ensuring compliance with firm policies and client agreements. This includes understanding and applying various billing arrangements (e.g., hourly, flat fee, retainer).
  • Accounts Receivable Management: Monitor accounts receivable, follow up on outstanding invoices, and assist with collections efforts to ensure timely payment.
  • Accounts Payable Processing: Review, verify, and process vendor invoices and expense reports for payment, ensuring proper coding and authorization.
  • Financial Record Keeping: Maintain organized and comprehensive financial records, both physical and electronic, ensuring easy retrieval and compliance.
  • Expense Reimbursements: Process employee expense reimbursements in accordance with firm policies.
  • Reporting & Analysis: Generate various financial reports as needed, including billing summaries, aged receivables, and expense analyses.
  • Administrative Support: Provide general administrative support to the accounting department and firm leadership as required.
  • Software Utilization: Proficiently utilize legal accounting software (e.g., Clio, MyCase, PCLaw, QuickBooks, etc.) and Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel).

Qualifications for Legal Accounting Assistant:

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
  • 2+ years of accounting experience, preferably within a law firm or professional services environment.
  • Demonstrated experience with transactional billing is essential.
  • Excellent data entry skills with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Discretion and ability to handle confidential financial information with integrity.
