This proven Columbia, SC litigation firm with decades of experience as true trial attorneys, is looking for a litigation associate. Their team is passionate about litigating cases and following through to trial. The firm is expanding its practice and looking for a highly motivated litigation associate who wants the opportunity to learn, grow, work hard and earn in a successful, well-established practice. The areas of litigation include personal injury cases, trucking, and car accidents, product liability, medical malpractice, nursing home abuse, legal malpractice, criminal defense, and financial and securities losses.
Example Job Responsibilities:
- Drafting and filing of litigation documents to include pleadings, discovery requests, discovery responses, demands, motions, and memorandum
- Guide clients through the case process
- Interaction with expert witnesses to include conferences, drafting of expert reports, and affidavits
- Attendance and preparation for depositions, mediations, hearings, and court appearances
Minimum and Additional Qualifications:
- A JD from an accredited law school and a member of the SC Bar in good standing
- 1-3 years of experience practicing as an attorney with knowledge of and experience in litigation and civil procedure
- Strong legal writing skills including experience in drafting briefs and other legal documents
- Ability to express arguments and conclusions clearly and logically
- Strong research, organizational and analytical skills
- Ability to analyze and synthesize facts, evidence, and legal theory and to understand and craft legal pleadings, discovery, and proposed orders
- Detail-oriented, hardworking, and results-driven team player
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Experience gathering evidence to be used in trial & interviewing key witnesses
- Experience conducting depositions, preferred but not required
- Experience trying cases, preferred but not required
