We are seeking a litigation paralegal for a plaintiff’s firm in Columbia, SC. The ideal candidate will assist attorneys in all stages of litigation, including maintaining case documents, conducting discovery, and drafting responses. Proficiency in state and federal e-filing and strong communication skills are essential for interacting with clients and attorneys.
Sample Responsibilities
- Preparation and service of Pleadings
- Maintaining case documents/databases
- Reviewing case documents and preparing case chronologies
- Preparing the first draft of discovery, including drafting and answering interrogatories, requests for production, and requests to admit
- Drafting and serving subpoenas
- Prepare and draft legal documents, including pleadings, motions, trial documents, etc.
- Familiarity with legal terminology and SC Civil Procedure requirements
- Must be comfortable with state and federal e-filing
Minimum Requirements and Other Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or associate degree in paralegal studies or Paralegal Certificate
- 2-3 years of experience as a litigation paralegal at a law firm
- Great customer service skills, both in-person and over the phone
- Strong personal work ethic and ability to organize time, manage diverse activities, and meet critical deadlines with minimal supervision
- Excellent writing, editing, and proof-reading skills, with the ability to be detail-oriented
- Strong interpersonal skills and an ability to work collaboratively
- Ability to multitask and prioritize caseload and daily tasks
- Ability to work overtime
