Real Estate Attorney

CLA has an immediate need for an experienced real estate attorney for a well-established title insurance agency in Raleigh, NC. The ideal candidate will have experience closing residential and corporate real estate transactions as well as a strong understanding of title insurance.

Example Job Responsibilities:

• Conduct Title searches, and underwrite preliminary and final title opinions for residential and commercial properties
• Review and proofread titles, commitments, policies, endorsements, and other documents to ensure accuracy and compliance with legal requirements
• Prepare title opinions, read surveys, and prepare documents
• Work with lenders, agents, brokers, buyers, and sellers to facilitate real estate transactions
• Work with paralegals and staff throughout the pre-closing process to ensure that closings occur smoothly and as quickly as possible
• Oversee or conduct title certification, closings, record documents, and disbursement of funds
• Calculating title insurance premiums and producing title insurance commitments, policies, and endorsements
• Complete ALTA endorsements for complex, commercial transactions.
• May have additional duties as assigned by the managing attorney including organization duties and general office tasks

Minimum and Additional Qualifications:

• A JD from an accredited law school and a member of the NC Bar in good standing
• Must have 1 year of title-related work, prior experience with title insurance underwriting and licensure is a plus
• Must have at least one year of experience in real estate law
• An understanding of residential real estate transactions and all aspects of the title review and curative process
• SoftPro experience
• This position is in-office, and the candidate must possess a high degree of autonomy and the ability to work independently
• Extraordinary attention to detail including proofreading and grammar skills
• Strong organizational skills
• Growth-minded, with a capacity for business development
• Some travel may be necessary for closings
