CLA has an immediate need for an experienced litigation paralegal for a well-established plaintiff personal injury firm in the Downtown Charleston area. The ideal candidate will have 5 or more years of experience with Civil Litigation, preferably personal injury. Responsibilities:

  • Answering case intake calls and interviewing potential clients
  • Interacting with existing clients
  • Entering information and records into case management system
  • Obtaining medical records and bills from clients and healthcare facilities
  • Discovery work including drafting and answering interrogatories, requests for production, and requests for admission
  • Drafting and serving subpoenas and FOIA requests
  • Legal document preparation and drafting including pleadings, motions, trial documents, etc.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years of recent personal injury paralegal experience in a law firm required
  • Experience with both state and federal e-filing, as well as judge preferences required
  • Familiarity with SC and Federal Rules of Civil Procedure is required
  • Experience with appellate matters preferred
  • Proficient in Windows, Microsoft Word, and Outlook is required (Excel and PowerPoint preferred)
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively with other team members
  • Strong personal work ethic and ability to organize time, manage diverse activities, and meet critical deadlines with minimal supervision
  • Excellent writing, editing, and proof-reading skills, with the ability to be detail-oriented
